# In-game setup

Every setting in /chatsetup and what it does.

Every setting of SOLID Chat is set up in game. Join your server as an admin and type `/chatsetup`. When you save, the change applies to every player right away and stays after a restart. There is no file to edit and nothing to restart.

{% hint style="info" %}
solid-bridge decides who counts as an admin, through `BridgeConfig.Staff` in its config. Without solid-bridge, players with the `command` ace count as admins.
{% endhint %}

#### Saving your changes

* **Save changes** checks every value on the server, then applies them to every player.
* **Discard** throws away the changes you have not saved yet.
* **Reset section** loads the starting values of the page you are on into the form.
* **Restore defaults** loads the starting values of every page into the form.

Reset section and Restore defaults only fill the form. Nothing changes for players until you press Save changes.

{% hint style="warning" %}
When two admins edit at the same time, the second save is refused and the panel loads the latest settings, so nobody overwrites someone else's changes by accident.
{% endhint %}

#### Where settings are saved

Settings are saved on the server, not in the resource files, so they stay the same when you restart the server or update SOLID Chat. Every save also keeps a backup of the settings from before it, see [Backups](https://grp-development.gitbook.io/solid-scripts/resources/solid-chat/in-game-setup/templates-and-backups#backups).

`shared/default_settings.lua` only holds the starting values that Restore defaults brings back. Do not edit it, use `/chatsetup` instead.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://grp-development.gitbook.io/solid-scripts/resources/solid-chat/in-game-setup.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
